Periyar Toastmasters Club (No. 1041934) was born on 01 May 2007 and the ceremonial chartering ceremony was held on 1st of November 2007 in a grand gala manner. Within a span of six months of its modest beginning, PTC has been able to attain commendable standards in conducting regular Toastmasters meetings, which have been hailed by Jubail Toastmasters fraternity in general. Thanks to our sponsors & mentors for their impeccable support and to the fellow leaders from sister clubs who graced our meetings and gave valuable suggestions for improvement. All these have been made possible only by the sheer consistency and hard work of our members.
Periyar is the name of the main arterial river from the south Indian state of Kerala. The name Periyar brings a lot of nostalgic memories to any nonresident Malayalee since the banks of this perennial river enriched Kerala's cultural heritage from time immemorial and later became the cradle of Kerala's Industrialization and development. Grand gatherings of Keralites initiated by great social reformers and statesmen took place on its banks, which became a cherished part of Kerala's heritage & culture paving way for far reaching reforms and modernization. Hence it is a proud privilege to name the first Malayalee community Toastmasters club after the magnificent river Periyar.
It is also interesting to note here that the chartering ceremony of Periyar Toastmasters Club coincided with the 50th Anniversary of formation of Kerala state, home of Malayalees around the world.
